Michael Jordan is considered an inspiration by many current NBA superstars. NBA stars have seen Jordan play and the mindset he had while playing. The winning mentality of Jordan is the motivation for many. Boston Celtics star, Jayson Tatum is also a Jordan fan and a part of the Jordan brand. During the podcast 7PM in Brooklyn, Tatum shared an embarrassing story involving Jordan.
On the Podcast, Jayson Tatum shared a story of having dinner with Jordan. In 2019, Tatum signed with the Jordan brand. With him were his fellow Jordan athletes Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, and Blake Griffin. They had dinner with Jordan and his wife, and Spike Lee. Tatum shared that he was nervous as he sat with Jordan and while greeting him spilled wine on the GOAT.
So I get up, and I’m like, ‘Yo, Mike, what up?’ The wine glass I just knocked it over, and it broke he was like, ‘Yo young fella, you’re alright, go sit back down, you’re good’ but ever since then we’ve been locked in and that’s another person that I will text, I will call.Jayson Tatum via 7PM in Brooklyn
Despite such an awkward start to a relationship, Tatum claims he has Jordan saved as “Uncle Mike” on his phone. Tatum has even shared that he calls Jordan for advice and during the 2022 NBA finals he asked Jordan about how it feels and what he should do.
Jayson Tatum went on to win the NBA championship last season with the Boston Celtics and was one of the main pillars. He will also be a part of the stacked Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Jayson Tatum claims he could beat Prime Carmelo Anthony 1v1
Jayson Tatum is coming off a great season with the Boston Celtics. He was the frontrunner in the Celtics championship victory. After that, he is going to be a part of the stacked Team USA for the coming Paris Olympics. During the practice session of Team USA, Kiyan Anthony the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony had a few questions for Tatum.
The young Anthony asked Tatum if he could have beaten his dad in his prime 1v1. Tatum confidently claimed that he could beat Prime Carmelo Anthony 11-8. Tatum had a productive season averaging 26.9 points and finished sixth in the MVP voting. On the other hand, in his prime, Melo had averaged 28.7 points and was a beast at scoring.
