Aston Martin’s safety car has been something of a discussion after the last GP at Singapore. There are two types of safety cars, one provided by Mercedes the Amg, the other one from Aston Martin, the green one. The safety car is called on the track in case of any track incident calling for a slower race. Recently the safety car has been a hot topic after being implemented a lot of times, something for the wrong reasons like Abu Dhabi 2021.
However, recently the safety car being the same Aston Martin model was spotted on the streets. As the Singapore GP ended, the safety car was implemented more than usual. Sergio Perez, winner of the Singapore GP was also under investigation for a safety car in the fragment but was later cleared after he was given a five-second penalty.
Safety car regulations have been completely trashed by race directors in the last few seasons. One thing that brings back memories as the safety car progressed in Abu Dhabi 2021. Fans didn’t keep their humour inside when they saw an Aston Martin on the streets. Some pointed out the Sergio incident when the safety car was too slow for the driver to drive behind. Others did appreciate the car and its version for street driving from a safety car perspective.
Aston Martin’s safety car is considered to be very slow when compared to Mercedes. George Russell so jokingly mentioned Mercedes SC to be five seconds quicker than the Aston Martin SC.
