PARIS (WKRC) - McDonald's France threatened to take one of its sauces off the menu after Stephen Curry dashed the country's hopes of winning Olympic gold.

The official McDonald's France Instagram account posted an image of its Classic Curry sauce Sunday, following France's 98-87 defeat to the United States men's basketball team.

"For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce,” the post reads when translated.

"For a minimum of 4 years," McDonald's France wrote in the caption.

Although LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker scored in the double digits, Curry ultimately dashed the country's dreams of winning gold after he sunk four three-pointers in the final three minutes of the game, which assured the U.S. was able to secure its fifth consecutive Olympic gold.

A representative for McDonald's France reached out to TODAY and called the post "a joke in reference to yesterday’s basketball game and Stephen Curry’s huge performance."

According to the outlet, although just a joke, it didn't stop users from arguing, in both English and French, down in comments.
