KETCHUM, Idaho (CBS2) — Mountain lion sightings in the Ketchum and Sun Valley areas are becoming more and more common.
Idaho Fish and Game said Monday that there have been multiple reports of the cougars reported in the area in April and May within city limits. Most of the reports are of a lion with two kittens and of a single adult lion.
"Some reports include sightings of lions during daylight hours, which is not typical behavior," Fish and Game said.
There have been no incidents or conflicts with the lions and people and or pets.
Fish and Game recommend folks do the following if you ever encounter a mountain lion:
- Never run away.
- Never turn your back. Always face them and make yourself look big.
- Slowly walk away while keeping eye contact
- Good safety equipment may be bear spray, a noise device or a very bright flashlight if you're out for walks at night.
Mountain lion sightings and observations should be reported to the Fish and Game, Magic Valley Regional Office at (208) 324-4359.
